Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that William Bogdan has joined the firm as a partner and Michael McConathy has joined as of counsel in the Personal Injury/Property Damage Defense Litigation practice in San Francisco.
Formerly with LeClairRyan, Bogdan and McConathy join their former LeClairRyan partner, Jennifer Gray who joined Hinshaw's Consumer Financial Services practice in Los Angeles last month.
"We are very pleased to welcome Bill and Michael to our California personal injury and property damage defense team," said Albert C. Angelo, co-chair of the Firm's Personal Injury and Property Damage Practice Group. "They are both highly experienced litigators with a keen insight into the business needs of a wide variety of key industry sectors, including construction, manufacturing and hospitality. Our clients will benefit from their legal counsel."
"Under the circumstances, I could not be happier to find a new home at Hinshaw," said Bogdan. "My purpose was to identify a collegial and high performing firm where my clients and I can thrive, and I immediately recognized Hinshaw as a place perfectly suited to those needs."
Robert J. Romero, partner in charge of the San Francisco Office, noted that "Bill and Mike bring with them extensive experience and deep roots in the Bay Area legal community. We are delighted that they have joined us."
With more than three decades of experience as a litigator, Bogdan advises companies on a wide array of construction issues, employment litigation and counseling. He frequently represents contractors on indemnity, injury and property damage litigation before federal and state courts, and advises companies on various employment issues including workplace and compensation matters.
Bogdan began his legal career at Lynch, Gilardi & Grummer in San Francisco in 1986, before joining LeClairRyan in 2018. In addition to an active law practice, since 2001 Bogdan has served on the Legal Advisory Committee of the California Association of General Contractors and on the Labor & Employment Section of the State Bar Association of California. He received a bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and his J.D. from Boston University.
McConathy brings a diverse mix of experience, including both in-house and private law practice. Focusing his practice on personal injury, real property, and labor and employment disputes, he has represented companies from a wide array of industry sectors, including construction, manufacturing, restaurants and grocery chains. McConathy also serves on the BASF Attorney/Client Fee Dispute Panel and as a mediator in fee dispute matters.
Before beginning his legal career, he was an economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce. He later served as compliance officer for a national healthcare company and as assistant general counsel for a Bay Area software company. Prior to LeClairRyan, he was with Lynch Gilardi & Grummer for several years before joining Kaufman Dolowich Voluck LLP. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Pennsylvania State University and a JD from Golden Gate University School of Law.
