Chicago — Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been included among the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). The significant recognition marks the fifth year in a row that Hinshaw has received a 100 percent rating on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI acknowledges top companies that support equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees.
Launched in 2002, the CEI is the nationally recognized bench-marking report for businesses to gauge their level of LGBT workplace inclusion against competitors. The policies, benefits and practices businesses must implement to earn a perfect score are best-in-class demonstrations of corporate and law firm commitments to LGBT workers.
“At Hinshaw, we have a long standing commitment to ensuring that our firm reflects the diversity of the communities in which we work and live,” said Donald L. Mrozek, firm Chairman. “We are honored that our dedication to diversity has been recognized with a perfect 100 rating on the CEI. In order to ensure we have the perspective and experience necessary to resolve our clients’ most significant legal matters, diversity will always be a top priority at Hinshaw.”
In 2013, more than 145 law firms participated in the CEI. Of these firms, 81 received a perfect 100-percent score. To achieve a perfect score and the coveted distinction of “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality,” firms must have fully inclusive equal employment opportunity policies, provide equal employment benefits, demonstrate organizational LGBT competency, evidence their commitment to equality publicly and exercise responsible citizenship.
