Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP law firm is pleased to announce that the Supreme Court of Illinois has appointed partner Esther J. Seitz as Vice Chair of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) Review Board. The appointment goes into effect on January 1, 2024, and the term will last until December 31, 2025. Seitz succeeds J. Timothy Eaton, who will assume the role of chair of the ARDC Review Board.
Founded in 1973, the ARDC helps regulate the legal profession through attorney registration, education, and disciplinary action. The ARDC compiles an annual list of authorized lawyers, provides education through seminars and publications, and offers guidance to lawyers and the public on ethics issues. The agency handles disciplinary matters fairly and promptly, protecting the rights of lawyers and the public. The ARDC boards consist of independent volunteer lawyers and non-lawyers who make disciplinary recommendations.
Seitz served as a member of the ARDC Hearing Board between 2018 and 2019 and has been a member of the ARDC Review Board since 2019.
For over 15 years, Seitz has litigated and tried cases involving significant constitutional questions, multi-million dollar contract disputes, construction disputes, defamation, privacy and intellectual property rights, and eminent domain. She has argued over a dozen appeals, including before the Illinois Supreme Court, as lead counsel on various media law and constitutional issues.
