DRI Honors Hinshaw's Steven M. Puiszis with Louis B. Potter Lifetime Professional Service Award

The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is very pleased to announce that DRI—the Voice of the Defense Bar—has honored partner Steven M. Puiszis with the Louis B. Potter Lifetime Professional Service Award. The award is given annually to an individual who "exemplifies the highest professionalism and service to the legal profession." Puiszis received the award at a dinner ceremony during DRI's Annual Meeting in New Orleans, October 18, 2019.
In announcing the award, DRI President Toyja E. Kelley and President-Elect Philip L. Willman said that "for 32 years, [Steve's] service to DRI has set a standard by which all others are measured." They highlighted his many contributions to DRI and the defense bar, and noted how he has "raised the profile and prestige of DRI and contributed to its continued vitality."
Puiszis has served in a variety of leadership roles at DRI, including as Chair of the Center for Law Public Policy (2016 – 2017), Board Secretary-Treasurer (2013 – 2014), and as a member of the DRI Board of Directors (2010 – 2014).
Puiszis is also actively involved in a number of other defense bar and professional associations, including the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC). He is a Fellow in the American Bar Foundation and a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and International Association of Defense Counsel.
Serving as the firm's general counsel and a member of the firm's Lawyers for the Profession® Practice Group, Puiszis represents and counsels law firms on a variety of issues including ethics, risk management, professional liability, cyber security, and data privacy. He earned his J.D. from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law and his B.S. from DePaul University, and is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. Supreme Court, and Federal Trial Bar, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
