Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partners David Schultz and Justin Penn have been re-elected as Legal Advisory Board (LAB) Members of the Consumer Relations Consortium (CRC) for the 2024 term.
Schultz and Penn are among fourteen attorneys serving on the 2024 LAB. The LAB consists of private practice legal advisors "with expertise in the accounts receivable industry who engage as full participants in the Consumer Relations Consortium." The Board serves as a legal resource to CRC working groups and assists the organization in fulfilling its mission of promoting forward-thinking approaches to the issues raised by regulatory policy and technology innovation in the accounts receivable industry.
Schultz defends corporations and individuals in consumer litigation. He has been lead counsel in over 250 class-action lawsuits and represents clients in regulatory matters before various state and federal agencies. Schultz currently serves on the firm's Management Committee and is a former chair of the firm's Consumer and Class Action Litigation practice group.
Penn serves as the co-chair of Hinshaw's Consumer Financial Services practice group and has extensive experience handling state and federal consumer statute litigation. In 2023, Penn helped prepare the CRC's official comments to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's policy statement on abusive acts and practices.
