Daniel McGrath Appointed Chair of DRI’s Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee

CHICAGO, IL – Daniel W. McGrath, leader of the Toxic & Mass Torts Practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been appointed chairperson of the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI’s) Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Committee (TTELC). His one-year term began on October 28, 2012.
The TTELC educates its members on the key current issues in this area of practice as well as related scientific and medical studies and analysis. It conducts an annual seminar, scheduled to be held February 28 to March 1, 2013 in New Orleans. The TTELC also provides expert witness information and sharing network, publishes a quarterly electronic newsletter, contributes to a dedicated issue of DRI’s For The Defense magazine, and sponsors timely webinars on rapidly developing legal topics. The organization connects practitioners with a vast network of accomplished defense attorneys.
Mr. McGrath is a long-time and extremely active DRI member. He previously led DRI’s Climate Substantive Law Group and Climate Change Litigation Task Force. Mr. McGrath also served as Program Chair of DRI’s 2006 and 2007 Toxic Tort and Environmental Law seminars, and chaired the TTELC Chemical and Solvent Exposure Substantive Law Group.
Mr. McGrath has 30 years’ experience defending manufacturers, distributors and service firms — including Fortune 500 companies — in products liability, toxic tort, mass tort, environmental, construction and commercial litigation matters. He has substantial experience with mass tort and multidistrict litigation, and is recognized for his ability to defend complex litigation in various jurisdictions as well as in regional or national forums.
