Barry F. MacEntee, a Chicago-based partner at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been selected by his peers and named by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine as one of 2015's "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch." Nominations from more than 1,400 attorneys were submitted for the honor.
Mr. MacEntee was amongst the less than 3 percent of nominated attorneys selected for the award. The list recognizes outstanding young attorneys who demonstrate "[i]ntelligence, passion, success in the office, a desire to help community and, most importantly, a willingness to work hard at one of the country's most important professions." Those who nominated Mr. MacEntee praised him for "the quality of [his] work," and his "sense of the big picture," noting that Mr. MacEntee is an attorney who gives his clients "straight, unvarnished advice that [they] need to hear." One nominator said, "I was always impressed by the quality of Barry's work[.] He is a thoughtful, aggressive attorney who knows how to litigate the big, commercial dispute." Said another nominator, "To have accomplished what Barry has at such a young age is truly unique and exceptional."
In his 13 years at Hinshaw, Mr. MacEntee has built a practice defending claims brought against attorneys and accountants and litigating commercial disputes. He has tried cases in federal courts and successfully argued two cases in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit by the time he was 30 years old.
