Andrew Gordon Selected as a Florida Legal Elite 2024 Notable Labor & Employment Lawyer

The U.S. law firm Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Fort Lauderdale partner-in-charge Andrew M. Gordon has been selected as one of Florida Legal Elite’s 2024 Notable Labor & Employment Lawyers by Florida Trend Magazine.
Gordon is among 50 Florida attorneys selected by Florida Legal Elite for the publication's inaugural Notable Labor & Employment Lawyers issue. According to the directory, the honorees “must be in good standing with the Florida Bar; be based in Florida, practicing law specializing in the area of labor & employment with a professional staff size of at least 10; have practiced at least 10 years; and have made a significant impact in their field.” Florida Legal Elite also notes that the attorneys must mentor other attorneys, demonstrate inclusive practices, and be leaders in professional organizations and community service.
Gordon was selected for having made a measurable impact based on the types of legal cases handled, promoting professional practices and values in the workplace, and demonstrating leadership in professional organizations and civic/community service initiatives.
He is the partner-in-charge of the firm's Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. He is also a member of Hinshaw’s Executive Committee and is active in the firm's mentoring program. As a litigator, Gordon represents employers in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and before government agencies on issues involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation; wage and hour, including class and collective actions; FMLA, ADA, and other federal, state, and local leave obligations; breach of contract; whistleblowing; restrictive covenants, non-competes, and non-solicits; social media use; OSHA, WARN; and other employment law matters.
Further, he provides in-person and web-based employment law training to corporate executives, managers/supervisors, HR professionals, and other employees on employment law requirements and trends.
Gordon’s thought leadership and insights are regularly quoted by media outlets on workplace legal issues and developments, and he also conducts webinars and podcasts on workplace and return-to-work issues. He also has extensive complex business litigation experience spanning contract disputes, business disputes, aviation security litigation, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, federal and state fair housing claims, class action litigation, and other various complex business litigation matters.
Gordon supports and participates in a variety of ongoing pro bono activities by a dedicated team of Fort Lauderdale lawyers for organizations such as Broward Legal Aid and Florida Rights Restoration Coalition.
Additionally, he has received numerous awards and recognitions from colleagues and the community. He was appointed by Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean J. Trantalis to serve on a 23-member Working Group in 2020 tasked with developing a COVID-19 business reopening plan for the city. Gordon was also selected by his peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© for Commercial Litigation, 2023 – 2025; recognized on the Rising Stars list by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine, 2013 – 2019 and honored with the "On the Rise" Professional Excellence Award in 2018 from the Daily Business Review.
