Three Hinshaw Attorneys Named to the 2026 National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40 List

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that associates Roosevelt Ettienne, Sabrina Smith, and Deijha Swanson have been selected as 2026 Top 40 Under 40 honorees by the National Black Lawyers (NBL).
About the National Black Lawyers (NBL)
The NBL is an organization that recognizes and celebrates top Black lawyers nationwide for their excellent legal representation and community leadership. It offers members a variety of professional resources to enhance their careers and foster referral connections.
About Roosevelt
Roosevelt defends airlines, manufacturers, and aviation professionals in litigation arising from accidents, regulatory actions, and liability claims. He prioritizes building strong client relationships to provide tailored, effective legal solutions aligned with each client's objectives.
Drawing on a broad civil litigation background, Roosevelt has experience handling labor and employment disputes, complex commercial litigation, construction labor law matters, and personal injury actions. He is also an active member of the American Bar Association.
About Sabrina
Sabrina represents financial institutions, mortgage lenders, and servicers in consumer financial services litigation, including foreclosure actions and defense against alleged violations of federal consumer protection statutes such as TILA, RESPA, TCPA, FDCPA, HOEPA, and FCRA.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Sabrina served as Assistant Corporation Counsel at the New York City Law Department, representing the City in employment defense matters, including discrimination claims and wage-and-hour class actions.
She currently serves as Co-Chair of the National Moot Court Competition Committee of the New York City Bar Association and as Vice President of Continuing Legal Education and Professional Development for the Metropolitan Black Bar Association.
About Deijha
Deijha is a defense litigator who represents clients in complex tort and general casualty matters. Before joining Hinshaw, Deijha clerked for the Circuit Court of Cook County in both the Commercial Law Division and for the Presiding Judge of the Law Division.
Currently, Deijha serves as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Illinois Defense Counsel. During law school, she gained valuable judicial and public service experience through externships with the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the Circuit Court of Cook County, Chancery Division's Mortgage Foreclosure Section.
