Hinshaw's Vincent Rizzo—a Chicago-based attorney who represents entities in Title VII cases—was featured in a Business Insurance article titled "No consensus on how Supreme Court will rule in gay rights cases." The article focuses on three sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination cases currently being considered by the U.S. Supreme Court and anticipation over how the high court will ultimately rule. Two of the cases, Melissa Zarda et al. v. Altitude Express and Gerald Lynn Bostock v. Clayton County, were heard together, while R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes Inc. v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission received a separate hearing.
Rizzo, who is also an active member of the firm's LGBTQ Affinity Network, a board member of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago (LAGBAC), and co-president of the Cook County Bar Association's LGBTQ section, said he believed the court will ultimately rule in favor of Title VII protection. He noted, however, that the ruling will ultimately depend on whether Justice Brett Kavanaugh, Justice Neil Gorsuch, or Chief Justice John Roberts "will obey the text of Title VII as opposed to the legislative intent."
