Sergio E. Acosta was quoted in the article "Menendez Play For DC Trial Could Yield Friendlier Jury," published on Law360 on May 28, 2015. New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez was indicted on corruption charges earlier this year, and the article discusses his motion to change the venue of the trial from New Jersey to Washington, D.C. Says Mr. Acosta in the article, “[t]his is a huge story in New Jersey, much bigger than it is in D.C. Negative pretrial publicity can truly sour a pool of potential jurors when they are saturated with media accounts of what allegedly occurred, even when they think they can approach a case fairly and impartially[.]"
Mr. Acosta is an experienced criminal and appellate litigator and investigator. He has represented companies, government entities and individuals in matters involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, complex financial fraud, criminal tax violations, export regulations and criminal forfeiture.
