Hinshaw’s strategic alliance partner, RPC, recently released the 2026 Annual Insurance Review, which provides an overview of the significant factors that influenced the global insurance market over the past year and offers insights into what to anticipate in 2026.
Once again, Scott Seaman and Pedro Hernandez, co-chairs of Hinshaw’s global Insurance Services group, have contributed the United States chapter of the Annual Insurance Review, which addresses a wide array of critical insurance developments and topics.
In announcing the new report, RPC notes that the “clearest thread running through this year's articles is the underlying impact of increased state self-protectionism and rising geopolitical conflict.” It concluded that there is “likely to be yet more conflict and considerable volatility in both a geopolitical and economic sense” and that readers should “strap in for 2026.”
The US chapter, authored by Scott and Pedro, focuses on the following developments:
-
- Impact of Trump 2.0
- Environmental, Social, and Governmental Considerations
- An End To “Illegal” Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion (DEI)
- Social Inflation, which continues to rage due to third-party litigation funding, nuclear verdicts, plaintiffs' bar advertising, and other factors
- Artificial Intelligence
- Cyber and Cybersecurity
- Privacy Claims
- PFAS or So-called Forever Chemicals
- The Wind Down of COVID-19 Business Interruption Litigation
- Drugs, Guns, and Insurrections
- D&O and Securities
- Health Insurance
- Silica
- Weather-Related Claims
- Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Liability
- The Outlook for 2026
