Russell A. Klingaman, a partner in the Milwaukee office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, was quoted in the article, "New Way to Land a Case," published by the Wisconsin Law Journal on August 24, 2016.
The article examines how technology that is usually only seen in high-stakes litigation is now being applied to smaller eminent domain litigation by using drones to collect information and subsequent development of three-dimensional models. Mr. Klingaman discusses potential risks associated with a lawyer planning to use a drone to collect information or hire a drone operator for a case. He noted that it's important for lawyers to avoid making themselves witnesses in their own cases. He also stated that lawyers would be wise to thoroughly vet any drone operator they are thinking of hiring. He said, "You want to make sure that they're following the [drone] rules."
