Hinshaw partner Kristen Perkins recently authored an article titled "ADA Website Accessibility Lawsuits Increase Amidst Lack of DOJ Compliance Guidelines" in the Daily Business Review. In her article, Perkins discusses the challenge faced by businesses when it comes to defending themselves from website accessibility claims brought under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). The U.S. Department of Justice has yet to issue clear guidelines on compliance. In the absence of regulatory guidance, Perkins suggests several steps for businesses to consider, including creating a web access policy and posting a website banner that offers a staffed telephone number to address accessibility issues.
