Kendra L. Basner authored "Deciding Between Your Client and Your License: Which Are You Willing to Give Up?," in the current issue of DRI's The Voice.
The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's recent contemplation of whether or not to sanction an attorney for filing a petition drafted almost completely by the client. The article identifies the applicable rules of professional conduct that define how an attorney should handle themselves if found in the same, or similar, situation. Finally, Ms. Basner provides some tips on how lawyers can protect themselves while still providing services to their clients.
