Diane Webster and Conrad Nowak attended the White House Heritage Day event held at the White House on Tuesday, June 14. The event brought together senior administration with ethnic leaders representing over one-hundred different nationalities to engage in meaningful dialogue. The briefing was the culmination of several meetings in the nation's capital celebrating Immigrant Heritage Month, and included a bipartisan congressional reception hosted by members of Congress including Senator Dick Durbin. Nowak was one of the presenters and awarded Rep. Mike Honda of California one of the Immigrant Heritage Awards due to his longstanding commitment to immigrant rights and compelling personal story as the son of Japanese immigrants.
Webster, who is involved in the Latino community due to her Uruguayan heritage, shared her story with others as well as with White House Political Director, David Simas, who attended an evening reception hosted by the DNC Ethnic Coordinating Council.
Nowak, who is Polish-American, is a member of the Ethnic Council and one of the national co-chairs of the DNC Ethnic Veterans Council, spoke earlier in the program at the DNC Headquarters on the subject of Veterans issues.
