Hinshaw partner David Levitt recently authored an article, “Lawsuit investing: Time for a few rules?” in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin which discusses the trend of investment company funding of litigation. Levitt outlines a number of potential ethical issues about which participants on both sides of the litigation bar should be concerned, especially those arising from situations where companies make cold contacts with potential plaintiffs, or fund portfolios of business directly to attorneys.
