Donald L. Mrozek, Chairman of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, was profiled in the January 10, 2012, issue of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. The article, "Mrozek Leads His Firm's Strategy," discusses Mr. Mrozek's term as Chairman—a post he has held since 1989—as well as his vision and plans for the future of the firm.
As reported in the article, when Mr. Mrozek became Chairman, the firm—now with approximately 500 lawyers—was approximately a quarter the size and had only 10 offices as compared to today's 24 across the United States. Says Mr. Mrozek in the article, "'With the increase in size and the increase in (Hinshaw & Culbertson's) geographic scope, my position has definitely become more and more strategic long-term thinking.'"
Also discussed in the article are Hinshaw's possible expansion overseas; the firm's diversity and related efforts, for which it is consistently recognized in localities across the country and nationally; and the diversification of Hinshaw's capabilities to a firm with 23 practice areas. As Mr. Mrozek states in the article, ". . . we are a firm that has a considerable business practice, both transactional and litigation, which supplements very nicely our insurance practice."
Also mentioned in the article are Kevin Joseph Burke, Hinshaw's Vice-Chairman; J. William Roberts, the firm's managing partner; and Dan L. Boho and Renee J. Mortimer, leaders of Hinshaw's Defense Litigation Department.
Mr. Mrozek has devoted a substantial portion of his practice throughout his career to business litigation and fidelity, surety and fiduciary bond claims and litigation. He has also conducted internal independent investigations for corporations and insurers involving allegations of fraud or misconduct. In addition, Mr. Mrozek regularly provides general corporate and transaction counsel to clients in a wide variety of industries, with a particular emphasis on transaction planning and legal risk assessment. He has designed, implemented and managed national and regional litigation programs for corporate clients.
