Hinshaw partner Ronald Kammer, co-chair of Hinshaw's global Insurance Services Practice Group, was recently the subject of a profile published by the Daily Business Review. In the profile, Ron discusses his more than 30 years working as a Hinshaw lawyer, the legendary "Kammer family work ethic" that he carried into his law practice, and his ongoing fascination with what he calls the "ever-changing" world of insurance coverage.
Ron discusses his journey from the Midwest to the Sunshine State, a migration that began when he was tapped by Hinshaw to lead efforts to expand the firm's presence in the Florida area in the 1980s. Since then, Ron has become one of the most recognized insurance litigators in the state, most recently being named Miami's "Lawyer of the Year" for Insurance by The Best Lawyers in America®. In his years working with insurers and insureds, Ron has secured roughly 150 reported decisions at the state and federal levels involving coverage on issues ranging from construction defects to indirect patent infringement.
"I've been able to really concentrate [on insurance litigation] and I think that's helped me stay in this area," Ron said. "[As an insurance coverage practitioner] there's always going to be legal questions and regulatory issues that need to be addressed," he said. "I've been blessed that I've never been busier."
Ron also credited the solidarity and shared sense of commitment exhibited by his Hinshaw colleagues for keeping him at the firm for more than three decades. He shared an anecdote he once heard from a business consultant who observed that "[Hinshaw] is really unique because you guys all like each other."
