Ronald L. Kammer, a Miami-based Partner and Co-Chair of the Insurance & Reinsurance Services Practice Group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, will present as part of a panel, "OCIPS, CCIPS, WRAPS, Subguard, and Non-Traditional Insurance." Pedro E. Hernandez will present the following day as part of a panel, "Duty to Defend." The program is hosted by The Seminar Group on May 11 & 12, 2017, continuing education credit will be available.
Given the fast pace of today’s business world and the ever-changing world of construction growth, understanding the current state of the law with respect to construction insurance coverages is paramount for those involved in the construction industry as owners, contractors or industry professionals. Insurance for Construction Claims impacts all demographics, all organizations, and all businesses whether public or private. This seminar will address ethical considerations in choosing counsel, coverage issues with respect to CGL, Builder’s Risk, OCIP and Subguard Policies, Additional Insured endorsements, and effective mediation strategies. This seminar is important for anyone who involved in or services the construction industry.
Ronald Kammer focuses on the representation of insurers nationally. He has been involved in many significant third party coverage disputes including cases that interpreted an insurance company’s duty to defend and indemnify, breach of policy conditions, claims involving bad faith and unfair and deceptive trade practices, as well as coverage obligations for construction defect, pollution, trademark and patent infringement claims.
Pedro Hernandez focuses his practice in the areas of insurance coverage litigation, commercial litigation, and construction litigation law. In addition, Mr. Hernandez represents insurers in commercial class actions in multidistrict litigation courts throughout the country. He has defended various carriers in MDL 2047 pertaining to Chinese drywall products liability litigation. Mr. Hernandez has tried several cases through verdict.
