Ed Lenci and D.L. Morriss Advance Global Legal Dialogue
Event
May 18, 2025 - May 23, 2025
Japan
Partners Ed Lenci and D.L. Morriss will travel to Japan as part of a series of events organized by the New York State Bar Association’s International Section, May 18–23, 2025. They are scheduled to speak before four bar associations: the Dai-Ichi Tokyo Bar Association, the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, the International Corporate Counsels Association (INCA), and the Osaka Bar Association.
Morriss will speak on law firm culture and talent management, a topic of growing interest among Japan’s leading firms. Lenci will address drafting inclusive consumer contracts, arbitration clauses with class action waivers, and provisions to manage the emerging challenge of mass arbitrations.
Lenci, a former chair of the International Section, and Morriss, who currently serves as the Section’s DEI officer and secretary, are making their third trip to Japan in this capacity. They first traveled to Tokyo in 2019 for the NYSBA Global Conference, which Lenci organized, and where Morriss moderated a panel. During their 2023 visit, they met with leaders of the Daini Tokyo Bar Association and top firms, including Mori, Hamada & Matsumoto, where Lenci began his legal career. Morriss also met with the U.S. Ambassador to Japan, Rahm Emanuel.
