Event
March 7 – 8, 2023
David Alfini, Aimee Delaney, Adam Guetzow, and Ritika Narayanan will present at the 2023 LeadingAge Illinois Annual Meeting and Expo on Tuesday, March 7, and Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center in Schaumburg, Illinois—of which Hinshaw is a sponsor. The seminars will provide perspective on the latest policy developments, explore emerging issues, and insights from experts who understand what the future holds for the senior living space.
Ritika Narayanan will present a program titled "Immigration Services" to examine the new immigration legal challenges under the Biden Administration and provide a high-level understanding of the immigration options available for the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) industry. She will also cover trends to watch within the immigration-employment context.
Alfini and Delaney will present a program titled "Labor & Employment Update 2023: What You Need to Know to be Compliant." The session will discuss new local and state regulations impacting policy and annual training requirements and dive into the latest labor and employment legislation and initiatives applicable to the aging services community.
Alfini, Delaney, and Guetzow will also present two panels, "Using SNF and ALF Contracts As Both a Shield And Sword in Illinois Litigation" and "State and Federal SNF Surveys – Yearly Update." The first panel will review Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) and Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) resident contracts and how specific provisions can best be used in defense of the facilities in litigated matters, including how specific contractual provisions should be included and where there may be room for facilities to update their agreements. The second panel will examine recent developments in state and federal survey processes in the SNF setting and recent trends in the appeal processes related to IDPH violations and CMS Civil Money Penalties. The impact of recent staffing violations and what to expect following the implementation period will also be explored.
Guetzow will also present a program titled "Sheltered Care Forum," where he will discuss survey and regulatory issues pertinent to sheltered care. He will also identify the latest top citations for sheltered care and address the event participants’ most pressing questions.
