New Orleans-based partner Colleen Jarrott will present a panel session titled "A CCS Toolkit: The Legal and Technical Landscape for Developing a CCS Project" at the 8th National Young Energy Professionals Conference, Institute for Energy Law, in Las Vegas, Nevada, on April 2, 2025.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is an essential method for global decarbonization. U.S. operators are partnering with emitters to capture and permanently store carbon using Class VI wells. Key legal issues include fees, liability, tax credits, and property rights under Louisiana law. The presentation will discuss the science of CCS, contractual provisions, and the regulatory framework in Louisiana.
