SPRINGFIELD, Ill. –
Raylene DeWitte Grischow, a Partner in the
Springfield, Illinois, office of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been elected President of the
Sangamon County Bar Association on November 17, 2011. As president, she serves a one-year term. With approximately 600 lawyers and judges, the Sangamon County Bar Association (SCBA) is one of the largest organized bar associations in the state of Illinois.
Ms. Grischow joined the SCBA in 2002. She was appointed as its Director of Communications in 2006 and later became President of the organization’s Young Lawyers Division. After that, she held roles including: Treasurer, Secretary, Second Vice-President and First Vice-President.
Ms. Grischow will be involved in planning and holding several events, including a Law Day luncheon and a judicial roundtable with the judges on a legal issue of wide interest. She will also head up efforts to determine the winner of the SCBA’s annual scholarship to a student who intends to go to law school.
Ms. Grischow maintains an active trial practice which includes commercial litigation, employment litigation, municipal law and the defense of matters involving general liability, personal injury, automobile liability, premises liability and property damage claims. She is also the attorney for the city of Auburn, Illinois.
Ms. Grischow earned her J.D. in 1998 from Washington University in St. Louis, and her B.S. from Illinois State University in 1994.
