Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Diana L. Winfrey has joined the firm’s global insurance services practice group as a partner in the Los Angeles office. Previously with Selman Breitman LLP, Diana brings more than four decades of experience representing leading national insurance companies in complex coverage disputes, with a particular emphasis on construction defect coverage matters.
“Diana is a highly experienced practitioner with an excellent understanding of the broad range of matters that insurance companies are facing,” said Scott Seaman, co-chair of the global insurance services practice group. “Her proven track record representing major insurers and her sophisticated approach to coverage matters and disputes make her an outstanding addition to our team. We are delighted to welcome her to Hinshaw.”
Diana advises insurers nationwide on a wide range of coverage issues, with a focus on construction defect and losses, helping clients navigate complex claims and litigation risks. In addition, she counsels insurance companies on claims examination and third-party coverage issues, providing strategic guidance to mitigate legal risks and achieve favorable outcomes.
Why Diana Chose Hinshaw
She was attracted to Hinshaw because of the firm’s broad geographic footprint, nationally recognized insurance practice, and strategic commitment to growth. “Hinshaw is an established, nationally recognized legal services provider in the insurance industry, and I am excited to join a firm that continues to expand and invest in its future,” Diana said. “With a deep bench of talented attorneys across its 27 offices nationwide, the firm creates tremendous opportunities to collaborate on client matters and continue to grow my practice. I look forward to working with my new colleagues to deliver exceptional client service during a time of growing legal challenges related to the expanding patchwork of state insurance regulations.”
Diana’s Legal Background
Prior to Selman Breitman, Diana practiced at various law firms in the Los Angeles area. She received a BA in Spanish from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a JD from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Before beginning her law practice, she served as law clerk to the Hon. Donald J. Manford in the Missouri Court of Appeals. She is an active member of the Defense Research Institute.
“Diana’s extensive experience further enhances the firm’s ability to serve our insurance industry clients nationwide,” said Spencer Kook, partner-in-charge of the Los Angeles office. “Her practice complements our existing team and will help us continue to grow in California and other key markets.”
