About Leah
Leah has more than a decade of experience representing a broad range of clients, including mortgage lenders, servicers, banks, and other financial institutions, in complex, high-risk consumer financial services disputes. She handles all phases of litigation and has extensive knowledge regarding residential mortgage loans and foreclosures, loss mitigation programs, loan originations and closings, consumer protection statutes, and title insurance issues.
Leah has successfully argued cases in New York’s Supreme Court and appellate divisions.

Experience
- After a computation hearing, the foreclosure referee issued a report that found the full requested amount to be due. Upon moving to confirm the report and for a judgment of foreclosure and sale, the Rockland County Supreme Court approved it without imposing any sanctions on our client, which the court had previously threatened to impose.
- Following briefing and oral argument, the Kings County Supreme Court denied the defendant's motion to dismiss under the statute of limitations and granted summary judgment in favor of our client in a foreclosure action.
- Hinshaw represented a national mortgage servicer client in a foreclosure action before the Richmond County Supreme Court and settled the matter by convincing the defendants to accept a loan modification. The legal team advised the client on the potential risks involved and encouraged them to take a proactive approach towards reaching a settlement.
- Successful request for summary judgment granted in a foreclosure action by the Richmond County Supreme Court, after Hinshaw conducted oral argument and briefing on behalf of national mortgage servicer client. The defendants' counterclaim for intentional infliction of emotional distress was dismissed.
- Represented a national mortgage servicer in a foreclosure case before Suffolk County Supreme Court, resulting in a subject property sale.
- Represented a national mortgage servicer in the foreclosure case. The Kings County Supreme Court denied a stay on property sale despite the defendant's order to show cause for a temporary restraining order.
