December 17, 2018

The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Raylene DeWitte Grischow, a partner in the firm's Springfield office, has been appointed by Justice Rita B. Garman of the Illinois Supreme Court to serve as a resident Circuit Judge in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. The appointment takes effect on January 7, 2019.

Grischow was appointed to fill the vacancy created by the election of Judge Peter Cavanagh to the Fourth District Appellate Court. She first joined Hinshaw in 2002, and has served as the business development leader for the firm's Government Practice Group and as Network Coordinator for the firm's Women Attorneys Network. Grischow is the current Vice-Chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Professional Responsibility.

In a statement announcing the appointment, Justice Garman said that Grischow will be an "excellent addition" to the bench: "[Raylene] was ranked as extremely well qualified by the screening committee. She has a distinguished career as a member of the Sangamon Bar."

The State Journal-Register reported on the appointment in a story titled "Noll, Grischow appointed to circuit judgeships."

Grischow is a graduate of Washington University (J.D.) and Illinois State University (B.S.). She is admitted to practice in Illinois.
