The U.S. law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that attorneys Jesse A. Placher and Andrew T. Bell were recently honored with the Jury Verdict Reporter's 2018 Trial Lawyer Excellence Award. The award was presented at the annual Jury Verdict Reporter (JVR) Awards Ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, October 11, 2018.

The JVR awards were selected by JVR Editor John Kirkton and Legal Information Group Vice President Peter Mierzwa of Law Bulletin Publishing Company, following their review of hundreds of notable Illinois jury defense verdicts with a high verdict potential.

Placher and Bell were honored for their defense verdict in Hilleary vs Illiana Emergency Physicians, et al. Their client Illiana Emergency Physicians LLP was facing a claim of more than $3.5 million in damages for alleged medical malpractice in connection with an emergency room visit. Following a 35 minute deliberation, the jury returned a complete defense verdict.

Both Placher and Bell focus their practice on defending medical litigation claims filed against physicians, mid-levels, nurses, hospitals and other healthcare groups and institutions.
