Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP – a U.S. law firm – is pleased to announce that U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) will serve as the keynote speaker at the 22nd Annual Hinshaw Labor & Employment Seminar, scheduled to take place at the Hilton Chicago-Northbrook in Northbrook, Illinois on October 12, 2017. Senator Durbin currently serves as the Assistant Democratic Leader of the Democratic Party in the U.S. Senate, and is the dean of the Illinois congressional delegation. A former trial lawyer, Durbin currently sits on the Senate Judiciary, Appropriations, and Rules Committees, including the Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies.
As noted in the recently published Hinshaw Labor & Employment newsletter, there are a number of key workplace legislative initiatives currently pending before Congress, including The Employee Privacy Protection Act, The Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, The Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act, and The Working Family Flexibility Act. Senator Durbin will address some of these and other Congressional initiatives in his opening remarks. Following this, the Senator will engage in a brief Q&A session.
The main event program will provide a year in review of significant labor and employment development and trends in 2017; a dynamic panel discussion by a group of plaintiffs' employment lawyers focused on social media, record retention, and discipline, documentation and discharge issues; as well as a series of breakout sessions focused on employee benefits, potential Affordable Care Act reform, cybersecurity, worker classification traps, and a mock cross examination of an HR Director. The event will conclude with an open mike session, where attendees can seek "Advice on Tap" from Hinshaw attorneys regarding hot button labor and employment issues.
Registration remains open for this event. Visit https://www.hinshawlaw.com/events-Labor-Employment-Seminar.html for more details.
