Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Frank A. Mazzagatti has joined the firm's Health Care industry group as a partner in the New York office. Mazzagatti brings extensive experience with health care regulatory compliance, licensing matters, and transactions.
Formerly with Weiss Zarett Brofman Sonnenklar & Levy, Mazzagatti is a licensed respiratory therapist who held numerous executive healthcare administrative positions before earning his law degree.
"Frank brings a wealth of knowledge about the health care business, in addition to significant experience with a wide range of health care regulatory issues, litigation, and transactional matters," said Adam Guetzow, chair of Hinshaw's national Health Care Practice Group. "New York and New Jersey are key markets for our practice. We're thrilled that Frank has joined the firm and will add to our expanding capabilities on the East Coast."
Mazzagatti brings a multi-tiered perspective to his health law practice. He advises a wide range of clients in the sector, including healthcare providers, hospitals and health systems, group practices, skilled nursing facilities, and pharmacies, on a broad scope of legal matters. He represents clients in litigation, licensing matters, corporate transactions, regulatory and compliance issues, and investigations by federal and state governmental agencies and licensing bodies. Mazzagatti also has a successful track record of representing clients in Medicare and Medicaid controversies and obtaining reinstatements for clients.
According to Mazzagatti, Hinshaw's nationwide footprint, size, and scope of practice areas were the main reasons he joined the firm.
"Hinshaw offers me the opportunity for cross-collaboration with attorneys in other practice areas and a lot of fertile ground to offer my clients the additional services they need," Mazzagatti said. "The firm's existing capabilities and expansive practice areas make Hinshaw a one-stop shop for clients and complement my practice and capabilities."
A recognized thought leader, Mazzagatti is a frequent speaker on health care topics and has published numerous articles. He teaches health law at Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he earned his J.D. He received his B.S. in health care from the State University of New York at Empire State College, an M.S. in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University, and a Ph.D. in healthcare administration from Columbia Southern University.
