Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that Robert L. Powell has joined the firm’s Commercial Transactions group as a partner in the Miami office. He brings more than two decades of experience as a senior in-house counsel working for public and private companies in the manufacturing, consumer products, energy, food, and hospitality industries, where he managed a wide range of transactional and corporate matters.
“Robert’s extensive in-house leadership experience gives him an in-depth understanding of the legal and business challenges facing our clients on a daily basis,” said Anthony Jacob, chair of Hinshaw’s Commercial Transactions group. “His knowledge and background in advising public and private companies on complex transactions, restructurings, and strategic growth initiatives strengthen our capabilities and enhance the value we provide to our clients nationwide.”
Robert advises companies on strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financing matters, restructurings, commercial contracts, licensing and marketing agreements, and a broad scope of corporate matters and regulatory compliance issues. Over the course of his legal career, he has served as legal counsel to companies in a wide array of sectors, including Pollo Tropical and Black & Decker. He also brings deep experience in government relations and legislative affairs.
He decided to join Hinshaw because of the firm’s nationwide platform and opportunities to grow his practice.
“I was drawn to Hinshaw because of the firm’s broad geographic presence, client-focused approach and professionalism, and the full array of legal services it offers,” Robert said. “Understanding the internal pressures and operational realities facing corporate leaders, I chose Hinshaw because it was the best platform for me to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that align with our clients’ strategic goals.”
Robert began his legal career at Steel, Hector & Davis LLP (now Squire Patton Boggs). He received a BA in political science from Hampshire College and a JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Prior to beginning his law practice, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Charles J. Kahn, Jr., on the Florida First District Court of Appeal.
