Steven Puiszis Authors Bloomberg BNA Article on How Technology is Redefining Competence

Steven M. Puiszis, a Chicago-based partner in the Lawyers for the Profession® group at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, authored the article "Perspective: Technology Brings a New Definition of Competency" published by Bloomberg BNA on April 12, 2016.
The article examines how modern technology is changing the definition of the competence in the legal field. Mr. Puiszis explains that technological competence goes beyond protecting client information or cyber security, it now also includes understanding: ediscovery; technology used by lawyers in their practice of law; technology used by clients; and, the technology used to present information in the courtroom. Mr. Puiszis notes that a lawyer’s duty of competence must evolve as the technologies used to provide legal services evolve.
