Areas of Focus
Experience
- Successfully helped an insurer client secure a $0 appraisal award on a multimillion-dollar hail damage claim. The insured had claimed several million dollars in storm damage to a townhome association. The appraisal panel sided with our argument and expert testimony, which established that the claimed damage was not caused by the alleged storm.
- Secured a jury verdict in favor of an insurer client, finding that the insured had concealed material facts, voiding the policy.
- Secured summary judgment for an insurer on a homeowner’s policy regarding water intrusion, resulting in the court dismissing the claim with prejudice.
- Obtained a partial summary judgment for an insurer client in a homeowner’s policy fire claim. The claim had initially been denied due to the intentional act exclusion, as the fire was caused by arson committed by the husband, who was the insured party. The court agreed that the estranged wife of the insured was not considered an "insured" under the terms of the homeowner’s policy. As a result, the wife’s claims were dismissed with prejudice, eliminating any possibility of the insurer being held liable to the wife as an "innocent insured."
