Stewart Spielman

Stewart helps national and regional lenders sort through all aspects of commercial banking and lending. He handles complex loan workouts, restructurings, modifications, and enforcement matters on behalf of institutional lenders, nontraditional investors, and equity funds throughout the United States. Certified as a business bankruptcy specialist by both the American Board of Certification and the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization, Stewart uses his extensive knowledge of bankruptcy law and experience in commercial banking to negotiate forbearances, amendments, extensions, waivers, and recapitalizations of distressed commercial financing secured by all types of collateral.

Stewart has deep experience in loans secured by many types of real estate collateral, including office buildings, hotels, retail/lifestyle shopping centers, restaurants, car dealerships, and apartment buildings. He also routinely advises on specialty lending products secured by maritime vessels, aircraft, retail installment contracts, heavy equipment, automotive floorplans, fleet vehicles, and tax liens. In that capacity, he has developed lending documentation for national banks and captive finance companies for nationwide implementation, and created policies and procedures to support those entities in administering their product lines.
