In a two-part Bloomberg column, Donald Mrozek, Fmr. Chair of Hinshaw, considers the topic of law firm leadership succession best practices. In Part One here, he specifically focuses on the importance and process of identifying and nurturing those partners with the strongest leadership potential.
Mrozek notes that while character is an important leadership attribute, the old adage that "leaders are born, not made" is in fact a gross over-simplification. Instead, he argues leadership must also be forged in the fires of experience.
