About Patrick
Aiming for prevention, Patrick advises clients on proactive measures to avoid legal issues in business and general casualty claims. He works closely with internal and external legal teams, businesses – including Fortune 500 companies – and individuals to address compliance issues, manage risk exposure, and safeguard brand reputation, giving legal and financial guidance, and drafting and negotiating contracts and agreements so all objectives are satisfied.
In addition to handling complex business disputes, Patrick advises on personal injury matters. He is adept in various forms of investigation, including social media, and has a talent for finding that needle in a haystack.
Areas of Focus
Experience
- Achieved a complete defense verdict in a personal injury case where the plaintiff sought over $15 million for alleged injuries, including a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Despite the defendant's admission of negligence, the jury found no causal connection between the accident and the plaintiff's claims. This case highlights that an admission of liability does not imply causation, emphasizing the need for plaintiffs to prove that their injuries were caused by the accident.
- Obtained a complete dismissal on a multimillion-dollar exposure case in excess of the policy limits centered on bad faith allegations.
- Resolved thousands of cases at mediation using strategic opening statements, effective arguments, and the ability to attack issues within the plaintiff's case.
- Negotiated thousands of amicable settlements, including several resolutions with minimal to no settlement cost.
