About Matt
Matt advises and represents financial institutions, lenders, loan servicers, and other financial services companies in complex litigation and regulatory matters. His practice includes defending claims involving fraud, breach of contract, fiduciary duty violations, and unfair or deceptive collection practices, with a focus on safeguarding clients' operational and reputational interests in high-exposure disputes.
He regularly handles matters arising under key federal and state consumer finance laws, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA), as well as related common law claims.
Matt was part of the defense team that secured a complete jury trial victory defeating a borrower’s statute‑of‑limitations challenge to foreclosure, resulting in an award of more than $400,000 in attorneys’ fees and preserving the lender's enforcement rights.
