About Caroline
Caroline represents financial institutions in creditors’ rights litigation at both the trial and appellate levels. Drawing on her experience in complex commercial litigation, bankruptcy matters, and consumer financial services law, she advises clients through challenging disputes and prepares pleadings and legal analyses in compliance with state and federal regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), federal and state Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) laws, and the Ohio Consumer Sales Practices Act.
Areas of Focus
Experience
- Secured a bench trial judgment for a national bank in a breach of contract dispute, defeating a borrower’s argument that provisions of the pandemic-era CARES Act indefinitely excused performance under a lending agreement.
- Obtained an appellate decision affirming an award of summary judgment, with the Appeals Court agreeing that records submitted by the bank’s affiant were not hearsay as the affiant was a knowledgeable custodian of those records.
- Secured a six-figure settlement at mediation on behalf of a small-business lender, recovering the full amount originally sought in damages.
- Successfully defeated a motion to vacate an arbitration award certified by the court as time-barred under the Federal Arbitration Act.

Did you know...
Caroline loves to travel and explore new places. Before beginning her legal career, she worked in international development at UNICEF in New York. She lived in Paris for a combined two and a half years across three separate occasions and can happily recommend the best bakeries in the city. Caroline enjoys playing tennis, and ran the New York City Marathon in 2015 and the Paris Half Marathon in 2019. She lives in Shaker Heights with her husband, son, and their Australian Shepherd.
