About Brian
Brian defends public employees in complex civil rights cases in both federal and state court. He focuses his practice on reversed conviction cases and matters involving constitutional torts.
Prior to joining Hinshaw, Brian represented police officers and governmental entities in section 1983 actions. In that role, he was part of a trial team that secured a complete defense verdict in a reversed conviction case, despite the plaintiff having obtained a certificate of innocence for the underlying offense.
Brian also served as an Assistant Special State’s Attorney, representing the People of the State of Illinois in post-conviction matters involving constitutional claims or claims of actual innocence. He litigated numerous evidentiary hearings and continued to handle cases through the appellate process.
