Hinshaw attorney Jess West discussed with the Northern California Record a new rule from the California Supreme Court requiring lawyers to report the misconduct of other lawyers. Similar disclosure rules have long been mandated in other states.

Hinshaw partner William Bogdan recently authored a byline in The Recorder discussing his recent win at the California Supreme Court in a bellwether "take-home COVID" case. The court ruled in favor of firm client, Victory Woodworks Inc., deciding that employers in the state are not legally responsible for preventing the spread of COVID-19 from their employees to the employees' family members. Hinshaw partner Eugene Brown will participate in a panel of litigators titled "Opening Statements" on August 16, 2022. Brown and his opponent will give an opening statement in a civil lawsuit, discuss their strategies and tips for effective opening statements, and answer questions from attendees.

Hinshaw attorney Joanna Storey is scheduled to speak at the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers (APRL) Fall Meeting in Chicago.

Hinshaw's Joanna Storey will co-present a virtual CLE event titled "Ethical Lessons Learned from Fictional Attorneys," on May 12, 2022. The CLE is presented by the Bar Association of San Francisco's (BASF) Legal Ethics Committee, of which Storey is the current Vice-Chair. The program will look at fictional attorney examples of legal ethical dilemmas and analyze if the attorney addressed the issue properly by discussing the professional conduct duties owed to clients.

Hinshaw's Amee Mikacich will participate in a panel session titled "Dismissed with Prejudice: A Discussion on Race and the Trial of Civil Cases" on March 10, 2022. The panel of distinguished trial lawyers and judges will share their personal experiences and insight regarding implicit bias as it relates to the legal community.
