On November 4, 2021, Hinshaw, as part of Hinshaw University, was pleased to present its annual CLE Veteran's Day special. This year's program featured Steve Miska, who previously served in the White House as Director for Iraq on the National Security Council.

Hinshaw partner Josh Vincent discussed in Illinois Lawyer Now the soon-to-be-launched Illinois Free Legal Answers for Civil Appeals, the first-ever online legal help desk in the United States designed specifically for civil appeals. The program, which will open to the public on September 1, operates through the American Bar Association's (ABA) Free Legal Answers platform, which was created to increase access to advice and information about non-criminal legal matters for those who cannot afford legal assistance.

Joshua Vincent and Jill Eckhaus will participate as faculty in the Illinois Defense Counsel's (IDC) Developments Critical to Medical Malpractice Litigation Hybrid Seminar on August 15, 2024. Vincent will present "The 'Secret Agent' – Updates on Apparent Agency Jurisprudence." His presentation will cover the general law of apparent agency in Illinois with a special discussion of Solorzano v. Magnani, Brayboy v. Advocate, and Conrads v. Rush-Copley. Eckhaus will moderate a panel titled "Jury Questions: Rule 243, Questions from the Jury, and Special Interrogatories." The discussion will cover a decade of jury questions allowed by Supreme Court Rule 243 and recent developments in jury questions in cases like Devany v. Lincoln Park, Galich v. Advocate, and Edson v. Horwich. Her panel will also explore the continued use of special interrogatories following the amendment to 735 ILCS 5/2-1108 and Ris v. Advocate.

Hinshaw's San Francisco office was host to the Bar Association of San Francisco's Latino Partners and Summer Associates event.

On November 19, 2020, Hinshaw, as part of Hinshaw University, was pleased to present its annual CLE Veteran's Day special. This year's program featured New York Times best-selling author Dan Schilling. Dan Schilling spent over 30 years in special operations with numerous combat and clandestine deployments throughout the world, including Operation Gothic Serpent, popularly known as the book and movie "Black Hawk Down," where he is credited for saving the life of an Army Ranger and Navy SEAL Team Six member under heavy fire. A Combat Controller and Special Tactics Officer, he later founded and served as the first commander of two special operations units, one of whose name and purpose remains classified. He is the author of The New York Times bestseller "Alone at Dawn," which documents the story of John Chapman, the first Medal of Honor recipient whose heroic actions were captured by drone video feeds. A purveyor of adrenaline fueled endeavors, he also holds the Guinness world record for most BASE jumps in 24 hours (201), a feat he conducted to benefit children who have lost a parent in special operations.A recording of the program is available below and on Hinshaw's YouTube channel.

On May 28, 2021, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker signed an amendment to the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure, 735 ILCS 5/2-1303, that applies a 6% prejudgment interest rate on all damages awarded in personal injury and wrongful death cases. Starting July 1, 2021, all personal injury and wrongful death actions will begin to accrue prejudgment interest from the date the action is filed or July 1, 2021, whichever date is later. Prejudgment interest accrual is limited to five years.

The Appellate Court of Illinois, Second District, recently announced a significant school law decision regarding school district detachment and annexation petitions.
