Nov 11, 2025
Hinshaw partner Robert Finley is scheduled to co-present the Strafford CLE webinar titled "Personal Injury Settlement Strategies: Navigating Medicaid's Anti-Lien Provisions" on November 11, 2025.
The CLE course will cover strategies for addressing the expanded sources of reimbursement ushered in under Gallardo v. Marstiller, 142 S.Ct. 1751 (2022), the implications for trial lawyers on settlements, and guidance provided by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The panel will review the following issues:
- How can legal counsel protect settlement recoveries from excessive state claims?
- Can settlements be designed to avoid overreaching?
- What expenses or reimbursements might the case influence?
- Can states recover anticipated costs for unprovided services?
- Will exceptions to anti-lien and anti-recovery rules be challenged?
