Joshua Vincent Named a 2016 "BTI Client Service All-Star"

Chicago — Joshua G. Vincent, a Chicago-based partner in the Appellate Practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, has been named a 2016 "BTI Client Service All-Star" by The BTI Consulting Group Inc. for the second time in three years. Only 19 percent of those recognized this year have made the list more than once.

The recognition is reserved for lawyers who deliver superior service to clients at Fortune 1000 companies and those with more than $1 billion in revenue. Mr. Vincent is one of only two appellate practitioners in Chicago, and one of only approximately 100 litigators nationwide, who were so recognized. He was previously recognized as a Client Service All-Star in 2013.

As explained in the 2016 BTI Client Service All-Star report, "the only possible avenue for becoming a BTI Client Service All-Star is for corporate counsel to identify an attorney who stands out — above all the others — for delivering superior client service, in an unprompted manner. Only clients select and decide." The award is based on an attorney's commitment to six key factors that drive exceptional client service according to corporate counsel: superior client focus, innovative thought leadership, unmatched business understanding, legal skills, outsized value and outstanding results.

News of Mr. Vincent's honor was reported in a February 8, 2016, Law360 article titled "GCs Name Cream of the Crop Litigators." As noted in the piece, "[w]ith the year seeing an increase in complex litigation, the cream of the crop were often those that were good at understanding business risks and at doing early prep work, according to Michael Rynowecer, BTI’s president." Mr. Vincent believes that "the recipe for great client service in the litigation arena is self-sacrifice — outworking your opponent to achieve the client's goals, but without billing the client for every minute you have to spend to make that happen. Clients appreciate knowing you have that level of dedication to, and personal investment in, their business, especially at a time when legal budgets are one of their biggest concerns."

Mr. Vincent has briefed and argued more than 350 appeals resulting in 180 published decisions. He has appeared 12 times in the Illinois Supreme Court. He has also appeared in the Florida Supreme Court; the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Seventh, Eighth, Ninth, Tenth and Federal Circuits; the New Jersey Appellate Division; the Ohio Appellate Court; and all districts of the Illinois Appellate Court. He handles appeals involving nearly all of the firm’s practice areas, including: commercial disputes; eminent domain; labor law; professional and products liability; employment discrimination; insurance coverage; review of administrative agency decisions; and criminal justice. He also has won multiple jury verdicts in state and federal court and is a member of the federal trial bar in Chicago. Mr. Vincent's trial level practice mirrors several of the substantive areas of his appellate practice.

Mr. Vincent is an elected member of the firm’s Executive Committee, serves as Hinshaw's Director of Professional Development and started the firm’s pro bono program for associates. He co-chairs Hinshaw University, the firm’s accredited in-house CLE provider, is a member of the CLE Advisory Group to the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism, and chairs the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Access to Justice's Forms Subcommittee on Appellate Forms.
