The law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that associate Jack Shadid has been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Black Business Alliance Peoria Chapter (BBAPeoria). Hinshaw partners with the Black Business Alliance to provide pro bono advice, counseling, and representation of African American-owned businesses in the Greater Peoria area.
Founded in 2013, the BBAPeoria is a nonprofit consisting primarily of minority business owners, professionals, and entrepreneurs who offer education, business development resources, networking opportunities, and more to help businesses increase their market potential. The BBA's mission is to educate members on economic development opportunities and develop programs that foster business growth while influencing positive social and economic change.
Since 2019, BBAPeoria has partnered with Ameren-Illinois to increase the base of minority contractors in the Central Illinois region. Those efforts have expanded since the passage of the Climate & Equitable Jobs Act, and BBAPeoria plans to continue supporting minority-owned businesses as the state and the nation continue with plans to transition toward a cleaner energy economy.
BBAPeoria focuses its renewable energy efforts on providing education and training for clean energy job-seekers, administrative support for small contractor companies, and business development strategy for larger contractor companies. These efforts are expected to help stimulate collaboration between contractors, construction companies, land owners, and renewable energy investors for the purpose of stimulating small and large projects in the areas of solar, wind, electric vehicle infrastructure, and other renewable energy projects.
