The U.S law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner Adam R. Vaught has been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to serve on the Illinois Judicial Conference. The newly reconstituted Judicial Conference is charged with developing, implementing, and managing the first ever long-term statewide strategic agenda for the Illinois Court system. The Conference, governed by Supreme Court Rule 41, consists of 29 voting members, including the Chief Justice of the Illinois Supreme Court, an additional Supreme Court justice, the Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, the Chair and Vice-Chair of the Conference of Chief Circuit Judges, judges and court personnel throughout the state, and three licensed attorneys. Vaught is appointed as one of the attorney members.
In a Supreme Court press release announcing the rule changes, Chief Justice Lloyd A. Karmeier noted that strategic planning is "critical" to the health and vitality of the judicial branch. "The courts operate in a world of ever-advancing technology, rapidly changing social and political norms, shifting demographics and economic uncertainty," he said. "If the judicial branch is to deliver on its promise of equal justice under the law, it is critical that we move forward as well. This Strategic Agenda will help us anticipate and prepare for the future.

Vaught earned his J.D. from the Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2005 and his B.S. from Truman State University in 2001. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, the U.S. Supreme Court, and all federal districts of Illinois.
