Hinshaw Partner L.J. Rotman Selected by Minnesota Real Estate Journal as a Finalist for 2024 Real Estate Lawyer of the Year

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that partner L.J. Rotman has been selected as a finalist by Minnesota Real Estate Journal for its 2024 male Real Estate Lawyer of the Year. Rotman was among four finalists selected for the award.

Each year, Minnesota Real Estate Journal recognizes the accomplishments of leading real estate professionals through its annual Real Estate Awards, including selecting one male and one female attorney each year as its Real Estate Lawyer of the Year. Honorees will be recognized at an awards event on April 18.

Rotman focuses his law practice on the hospitality and sports industries and has structured and negotiated billions of dollars of transactions globally. He has handled notable hotel and sports venue transactions, including Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins, and U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the Minnesota Vikings.

In 2023, Rotman represented United Properties in the sale of RBC Gateway Office Tower to San Francisco-based Spear Street Capital, which involved a 550,000-square-foot portion of the 1.2 million-square-foot, 37-story mixed-use project in downtown Minneapolis. The $225 million transaction was the largest sale price for office space in the Twin Cities and among the largest commercial real estate sales transactions in the United States in 2023. Previously, Rotman handled all legal aspects of the development and construction of the tower, which includes Four Seasons Hotel, the only five-star hotel in the city, and was the first skyscraper to be built in Minneapolis in two decades when it was completed in 2022.

The sale of RBC Gateway Office Tower is also a finalist for "Most Significant Investment Sale Transaction in 2023" in the Minnesota Real Estate Journal 2024 Real Estate Awards. Update: on April 18, 2024, the Gateway deal was selected as the award winner. 

Widely regarded by his peers in the legal and real estate sectors, Rotman was chosen as among the Best Lawyers in America® in 2023 and selected by Minnesota Lawyer for the third consecutive year to "The POWER 30: Real Estate and Construction Law" list.
