Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is proud to announce that the firm has earned a perfect score of 100% on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. This is the seventh consecutive year Hinshaw has earned this esteemed accolade.
Kevin Joseph Burke, Chairman, commented, "Diversity and inclusion have been central to the firm's culture and strategic priorities for decades and will always be an integral part of our ethos. The annual CEI is a terrific measure of this success. We're proud to be named among the best places to work for LGBT equality once again, but also recognize that there is always more work to be done. We are committed to upholding an inclusive environment for all of our lawyers and staff."
The 2016 CEI rated 1,024 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community. Hinshaw's efforts in satisfying all of the CEI's criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality.
Todd Young, LGBT Affinity Group Leader at Hinshaw, added, "We believe that our consistent 100 percent rating by the HRC exhibits how Hinshaw's diversity and inclusion commitments are truly a top priority. A diverse workforce is crucial in order for the firm to be successful and competitive in this industry, and it is our responsibility to continue to implement policies and best practices that support diverse lawyers and staff."
Hinshaw has a long-standing commitment to ensuring that the firm reflects the diversity of the world in which it operates. The firm encourages diverse attorneys to participate in organizations and associations that enhance their professional, civic and cultural development. Furthermore, Hinshaw's affinity networks help engage these groups of attorneys with legal and business communities, sponsoring, presenting, and attending events as well as supporting causes of concern to their particular communities.
