CORAL GABLES, FORT LAUDERDALE, JACKSONVILLE AND TAMPA, FL. – The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is pleased to announce that it has been awarded The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division’s 2013 Diversity Award. The award, which will be formally presented at The Florida Bar’s Annual Meeting in Boca Raton on June 28, 2013, recognizes the entity that demonstrates the highest morality and respect for all persons and diversity, for efforts and allegiance to creating diversity and promoting a more diverse workplace.
Hinshaw has a long and ongoing commitment to multifaceted diversity and inclusion efforts. Among other things, the firm has a highly active diversity committee and affinity groups that bring together various diverse constituencies in the firm; an internal training program that provides attorneys with practical professional assistance and transmits Hinshaw’s core values such as diversity, inclusiveness, mentoring, skill development and tolerance; internal mechanisms to monitor firm-wide diversity initiatives and further the promotion and development of Hinshaw’s diverse attorneys; a formal mentoring program and an attorney life committee, which serves as the firm’s inclusion vehicle and monitors mentoring; initiatives designed to address head-on the pernicious problem of unconscious bias; policies designed to address working parents’ schedules; and leaders throughout the firm who are active in local and national organizations dealing with the issues of diversity and inclusion in law firms.
