Hinshaw Adds Experienced Insurance Partner in New York
Brooke Tanner brings mix of in-house and private law practice, with focus on insurance coverage, intellectual property, and cybersecurity issues

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP today announced that Brooke Tanner has joined the New York office as a partner in the global Insurance Services Practice Group. Previously Claims Counsel for Rockville Risk Management Associates, she represents insurance companies in a wide range of coverage claims matters, complex first and third-party insurance issues, with extensive experience advising clients on commercial general liability, intellectual property, construction, and cybersecurity issues.
"Brooke's focus on commercial general liability, intellectual property, cybersecurity, and insurance adds depth to our insurance services practice at a critical time for our clients," said Scott Seaman, co-head of the Insurance Services Practice Group. "I've had the pleasure of working with Brooke for several years and am excited that she has decided to join our team. Her outstanding claims experience and judgment as well as her coverage acumen will serve our clients well!"
Tanner represents insurance companies in coverage disputes related to copyright and trademark infringement, trade secrets, and media. In addition, she represents clients on coverage issues and related to digital technology and advises insurers on cyber claims involving ransomware, phishing attacks, and other cybercrimes.

She brings extensive experience with these issues and will help us continue to serve our clients' growing needs for legal counsel and guidance on these matters."
According to Tanner, Hinshaw's work on the claims side of insurance offers her the right platform to return to private law practice. The firm's geographic footprint and reputation as a national leader in the insurance industry were among the main reasons she chose to move to Hinshaw.
"My skill set handling claims in-house is highly transferable to the work that Hinshaw is doing," Tanner said. "I have great working relationships with several Hinshaw attorneys, including Scott, Pedro, Jason Schultz, and Nicole Gould. The firm offers me the right opportunity to return to a traditional law practice. I'm very excited to work with this talented group of attorneys."
Prior to joining Rockville Risk Management Associates, Tanner was in private practice at various law firms located in the New York Metropolitan area. She earned her B.A. in U.S. history, with a minor in psychology, from the University at Albany - State University of New York and her J.D. from Albany Law School.
