The national law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP announced today that Chicago Partner Daniel Trevino was installed as President of the Hispanic Lawyers Association of Illinois (HLAI), effective July 9, 2015.
As President, Mr. Trevino will carry out the HLAI's mission to promote high standards of competence, professionalism and integrity with and among Latino attorneys and the Latino community of the State of Illinois. Prior to his installation as President, Mr. Trevino served the HLAI as an Officer, Board member and annual supporter of HLAI's JD Mentors Program.
Mr. Trevino's dedication to the Latino law community has been established over many years of strong leadership and hard work. Recently, the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) chose Mr. Trevino as one of ten attorneys across the United States as a “2015 Top Lawyer under 40.” The award recognizes HNBA members who demonstrated outstanding professional achievements combined with an exceptional commitment to service, commitment to the Latino community and dedication to improving the legal profession.
"Dan is a man of uncommon decency, integrity, energy and heartfelt commitment to the Hispanic community," said Kevin Joseph Burke, Chairman. "He is admired by all as a shining example of the valuable mission and purpose of HLAI. We are thrilled that Dan has been selected as President of HLAI, and we are certain that many will benefit by knowing him and be inspired by working with him, as we are each day."
Mr. Trevino is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Hispanic National Bar Association.
The HLAI is a not-for-profit corporation that was established in 1995. HLAI was formed through the joining of its predecessor organizations, the Latin American Bar Association and the Mexican American Lawyers Association, which had previously served the Hispanic legal community in Illinois since 1970. HLAI serves all of Illinois, including Chicago and all surrounding suburbs, including Aurora, Elgin, Naperville, Elmhurst, Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect, Evanston, Oak Lawn, Orland Park, Chicago Heights and more.
At Hinshaw, Mr. Trevino concentrates his practice in the areas of products liability and transportation litigation. He represents multi-national electronics, automobile parts and fitness manufacturers and distributors in product liability and wrongful death litigation.
He also serves as a coordinator in Hinshaw's mentor program and summer associate program.
